Cost of living in Buenos

Social Security, obra social, etc. is a mandatory 17% witholding from your monthly paycheck (unless you are a director of a company). Your employer should withhold that from your check and pay that on your behalf to the government.

Resident Income Tax is in additional to that and is a progressive tax ranging from 9% to 35% on top of this.

ETA: The 35% I mentioned would be in effect if the OP's salary was over 40K USD annually although it might be reduced depending on exactly how much over and if s/he qualifies for deductions. I am NOT an accountant nor do I play on on TV ;) but you definitely want to speak to someone in your company about the tax implications.
