Came across this site http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/ whilst thinking about where we might go after Argentina. Seems fairly accurate, the London prices anyway. Wondered what others thought, espicially the BA comparisons.
Cost of living in dollars in BA doesn't really make all that much sense as a stand alone unless you are factoring in local wages and taking percentage of that for the categories mentioned. And I esp don't understand in Arg where you have official dollar, tourist dollar and dollar blue. And I question this: It says average monthly disposable salary (after tax) is $1200 USD. I highly doubt the average salary is 10K or 15.6 in pesos here.

I would say average salary is ok 10k. My maid makes 8 thousands and she is not average but below average, a truck driver makes easily 15 thousands or so, 10k is an average salary, thats ok.

Many thanks for posting this link! I just compared BA to two different US cities that I'm familiar with, and then those cities to each other, and I'd say that it was right on the money! Particularly when you use the scroll down menu to highlight some sub categories like health care, crime, etc.

Thats good to hear. I kind of fancy perhaps the U.S as the next port of call ,either Southern California or Florida depending on work. I just need to figure out if what I could potentially earn will be able to afford a decent life for my family , especially if my wife wouldnt be able to work due to visa constraints.
What I was unsure with is the Utilities values, I read in the U.S there is a homeowners allows. Surely this isnt included in this, although it says garbage? Seems pretty cheap to me.
Mmm..I actually quite like southern FL although I don't go there in the summer which may color my opinion! I would agree, the COL seems relatively accurate for other cities in the US that I looked at. I was questioning Buenos Aires calculations to be clear.
