Covid Vaccination Argentina

"The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported that the Directorate of Epidemiology of the province of Córdoba notified a case of Delta variant in a traveler ... from which 13 related positive cases have been detected in their relatives, according to the epidemiological investigation carried out.

...According to the statement, of the 13 related cases that were analyzed in the Central Laboratory of the province, in 12 the Delta variant was determined...

...Of the 14,115 new infections, 3,618 are from the province of Buenos Aires, 660 from the city of Buenos Aires, ... 2,227 from Córdoba..."

Seems Delta is now out of the bag in Argentina. This highlights the need for people to be fully vaccinated whenever the opportunity presents.

On a side note, I cannot help but suspect it has been doing the rounds in Cordoba and likely for some weeks now since their daily case numbers have remained disproportionally high in comparison to the rest of the country (the province has a similar population to CABA) and the fact that the traveller was reported as negative on arrival. In the past two weeks I also know at least 6 people here in AMBA infected with COVID - fortunately all with very mild symptoms and were detected by mere chance rather than proactively seeking tests. To their knowledge no sequencing was done on their positive sample to check what variant.

Delta has been here for many weeks. It's all a distraction. Delta is everywhere in Paraguay and Brasil and these borders are so porous it's ridiculous! While we have to get tested 3 times to fly into EZE, hundreds of Paraguayos enter and exits Argentina via the unregulated border weekly.

The same is happening with the US/Mexico border.

I agree! In the provinces (or at least here in the province) they are not testing much for the delta variant. Only if you have traveled internationally and are covid-19 positive. All the other cases are just tested if covid positive or negative. As a result we have have little official delta cases here and all are related to international (air-) travelers. When shit hits the fan during the next wave caused by the delta variant - they can then blame it on international travelers.

you know this isn't close to an apples to apples comparison. especially since the US isn't implementing the same lame attempt at closing their borders to "prevent infection"

Annnnd they now detected what looks like community transmission of Delta in CABA and saw on the news cases in Salta too. Seek and you will surely find.

You are aware there is more opposition than just JxC, right? And not everyone who criticizes the FdT government is a JxC voter/ fan? This binary vision/ delusion of Argentina is precisely its problem... this outright “if you’re not with us, you’re against us” charge from populists and politicians, from either side, to the point where neither results, facts or common sense just don’t matter and they try to silence any criticism whatsoever.

Yes we get it, you are also a fan of Milei and Espert who also would have agreed with JxC on doing absolutely nothing in regards to the pandemic and just letting it run rampant

Sorry to disappoint, but no on both counts.
You can troll through my past posts to see I’m about anything but letting it run rampant - which is exactly what this government has allowed to happen based on amount of deaths and cases. But I get it, we should ignore inconvenient or uncomfortable facts and pretend everything in Argentina is perfect, in a hypothetical case.

A good news story from the neighborhood.
Chile has fully vaccinated 80% of its population over the age of 18. The last month has witnessed a steep decline in cases and reducing positivity rates. Delta variant is present in Chile but is still not the dominant variant of infections there, which remains something to continue to watch.
