Covid Vaccination Argentina

Covid vaccine: the gov't announced the application of third doses and boosters. Carla Vizzotti informed that the third doses will begin to be given to immunocompromised persons and those over 50 years of age who have been vaccinated with Sinopharm will be inoculated with AstraZeneca. She differentiated the third dose from the application of boosters, which will begin to be given in December. The official stated that the vaccines entering late this year and early next year "will be strategic to provide this booster" and that the National Immunization Commission is evaluating the application of heterologous schemes -that is, the combination of different drugs-, mainly with Pfizer, Moderna and Sputnik Light vaccines. In December, a booster will be applied to the whole population: first of all, health personnel will be vaccinated.

Vaccines for tourists. Likewise, the Minister detailed that they started working with the jurisdictions that have border points, especially Formosa, Salta and Jujuy, to "offer the vaccines to tourists, especially to children under 18 years of age". This decision, she added, is based on the principle that it is necessary to achieve immunization in all countries in order to put an end to the pandemic and it was taken into account that "we have enough stock to vaccinate Argentine men and women at all stages of life". On his part, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Matías Lammens, announced that "the other novelty is that we are going to exempt tourists from the PCR", which is performed once they arrive in Argentina. They will only have to present the test done 72 hours before their arrival in the country and the vaccination certificate. Argentina will allow the entry of vaccinated tourists," said Vizzotti. The risk is greatly minimized. However, each decision and its impact will be monitored"....

Regarding the order of the call, Quirós specified that "the first to be contacted are those who are 50 years of age and older with two doses of Sinopharm because they have already completed" the vaccination schedule and "one month must have passed since the second dose", he clarified....

....This means that the ban will be lifted for those who are immunized with the Russian vaccine Sputnik V - with one or two doses. Those vaccinated with Sputnik V in Argentina reaches 11.3 million people with a single dose and 8.3 million with both components. Now, with this recommendation, Argentines with Sinopharm will have no problems either. Argentina will be added to their list of "safe countries" to visit because the level of immunization against the coronavirus is high and infections and deaths are decreasing. They also warned that if the sanitary guidelines here worsen, the country will be removed from the list. They will require a negative PCR for the previous 72 hours and will not require quarantine. On the other hand, the UK announced this Thursday that Argentines with the complete immunization scheme may enter its territory without quarantine. ....In a yearlong study of 621 people in the UK with mild COVID-19, scientists found that their peak viral load was similar regardless of vaccination status, according to a paper published Thursday in The Lancet Infectious Diseases medical journal. The analysis also found that 25% of vaccinated household contacts still contracted the disease from an index case, while 38% of those who hadn't had shots became infected. The results go some way toward explaining why the Delta variant is so infectious even in nations with successful vaccine rollouts, and why the unvaccinated can't assume they are protected because others have had shots. Those who were inoculated cleared the virus more quickly and had milder cases, while unvaccinated household members were more likely to suffer from severe disease and hospitalization....

Covid-19: the Delta variant is already the most widely circulated in the City and in the Province of BA. This is the conclusion of the latest report of the Argentine Interinstitutional SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Project...."It was found that the frequency of detection of the Delta variant reached 83.3% (in the GBA), 84.6% (in CABA)," the researchers detail according to the survey of the second half of October. In addition, they highlight that the results "are in line with the regional epidemiological situation" in which there is "an increase in the frequency of detection" of this mutation "both in Argentina and in other countries of the region". With respect to the rest of the country, they reported that this variation reached "21.4% in the province of Santa Fe and 41.0% in the province of Neuquén" .

"This report reflects the heterogeneity of the prevalence of the Delta variant in the country, in a sort of hinge or transition that in the medium term will be dominant throughout the territory," Humberto Debat, virologist and member of Proyecto PAIS, told Télam news agency. "Based on what happened in other countries, that 80% in AMBA (Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires) is going to be seen in the rest of the national territory," he added. The results correspond to the analysis of 568 samples of which 188 corresponded to cases from the City, Greater Buenos Aires and surroundings and Greater La Plata, 25 from the province of Buenos Aires (not AMBA), 18 from the province of Chaco, 11 from Misiones, 93 from Neuquén and 190 from Santa Fe. All the samples studied were taken from persons with no history of travel abroad or close contact with travelers....

....Call for continued care. Finally, the researchers warn that prevention and control measures should continue to be applied to the evolution of the pandemic in the country. "In the context of the opening of international entries from neighboring countries and the elimination of restrictions, the importance of maintaining the protocols of testing and isolation of positive cases, and care measures (ventilation of environments, use of masks, physical distancing) should be emphasized to avoid further spread of the Delta variant or other variants to our country", they indicated.

The match between Argentina and Brazil, a full house. There will be 100% outdoor seating capacity as of November 16. As announced by the Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, on Friday, "At least a single dose of the vaccine is required," she specified about the conditions that will be needed for access and clarified that there could be a reversal in case the epidemiological situation worsens. The announcement of further relaxations coincides with a slight upturn in Covid-19 cases, so the Minister recalled that, with the progress of the vaccination plan, the figures that are under monitoring are the increase in hospitalizations and the strain on the health system. "The aim of vaccination is that the health system is not strained and hospitalizations and deaths are avoided," said Vizzotti....

....Another announcement made by Vizzotti was that as of November 1st, when the administrative decision is issued and "thanks to the fact that 56% of the global population has already completed its vaccination schedule, and considering that the objective of delaying the circulation of the Delta variant has been achieved, and we already have community circulation, the antigen test will be eliminated for everyone. Those already vaccinated are already doing it, and we will also eliminate it for those who are not vaccinated. Eliminate the PCR between the 5th and 7th day of the vaccinated persons. To inform that children under 18 years of age, vaccinated or unvaccinated, and Argentineans or foreigners, are exempted from quarantine". Finally, land transportation by means of buses was authorized through the entry points, complying with the same requirements as for border entry, which is the PCR at least 72 hours before and the complete vaccination scheme. And the same in relation to ferry transportation, the capacity is increased to 100% also with the same requirements.
