Covid Vaccination: The Cabinet Chief, Juan Manzur, presented today in the Senate his first Management Report as Coordinating Minister and among the questions he answered to the parliamentarians, he revealed how many doses of vaccines against the Covid-19 coronavirus could not be used in the country, for reasons ranging from the expiration date to the cutting of the cold chain. Manzur detailed that more than half a million (574,017) doses of vaccines were discarded: "In relation to the vaccines that could not be used in the jurisdictions in the periods of 2021 and 2022 due to their expiration date, the total amount is 349,916 doses", he detailed. The remaining 224,101 discarded doses were due to different causes reported by 18 of the 24 jurisdictions....He responded to the consultation in the Management Report presented in the Upper House: expirations, misuse and cold chain cut, among the causes; only six provinces did not report losses.

The State has almost stopped using Sputnik...The last acquisition of Russian doses was last November; since a month before its use had been falling in the campaign against Covid-19. The Argentine laboratory, Richmond, that was to deliver the doses of Sputnik V pending the official contract with a Russian company put that project on hold with the completion of the last 1.4 million units and is now concentrating on a regional hub for vaccines of different platforms in Pilar with other companies. Since November, the State did not request this product again, with the arrival of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines: the country received 68% of the 30 million doses agreed with Russia for an extension of the contract; more than half was the first component. By that date, the application of the Russian vaccine also fell. The last delivery by Richmond Laboratories to the National Ministry of Health took place on November 26, 2021 according to the minutes of receipt of vaccines for Covid-19. There were 608,000 doses, 455,250 of the first component and 152,750 of the second. The company informed that no doses are being produced today with Russia....

....The use of face masks in the City of BA will no longer be mandatory as of Thursday, June 16, according to the new provisions to be announced by the Gov't of BA through the Boletin Oficial. Although the measure is effective as of today, the authorities recommend the continued use of the masks that cover the nose, mouth and chin when entering and remaining in enclosed places of public or private access".

Official sources confirmed to the NA agency that the Minister of Health of the City, Fernán Quirós, will announce the details of the new resolution in an imminent press conference, considering the gradual decrease of Covid-19 infections in the last weeks. It is a resolution agreed upon by the Ministries of Health, Economic Development and Production, and Justice and Security, with the support of the Chief of Cabinet of CABA.
At the beginning of this week, the BA health minister had announced that "we are moving towards a natural circulation" of the virus, although this does not imply the end of the pandemic. "It is going to be like a flu, that the cases will increase at some point of the year and decrease at another. We are still in a transition of that process as we are making very significant inroads," the minister detailed....

The CNRT questioned the CABA Govt's measure. Masks on buses: in which ones the use is still compulsory....Through a press release, Provision 225/2022 establishes that "it continues to be mandatory the use of masks inside the units for passengers and driving personnel, ventilation must be permanent and cleaning and disinfection of the vehicles must be carried out before each trip"....The National Ministry of Health establishes that the use of masks in enclosed spaces is optional, but it is mandatory in public transportation. It is crazy," said gov't sources in an interview with Página/12. If the bus belongs to the AMBA, you have to keep wearing the mask. You don't have to use it in the subway and the premetro". What the CABA Gov't says: The City Minister of Health, Hernan Quirós, explained this morning at a press conference that from now on, the use of face masks is optional in closed public or private spaces, including transport within the City. In buses, interjurisdictional trains and trains -which depend on the Nation- it is still mandatory.

Which bus lines run only in CABA?
There are 135 bus lines in the City of BA, of which 103 are interjurisdictional where the use of masks is still mandatory. The recommendation of the Gov't of BA only applies to the remaining 32 lines: 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 12, 23, 25, 26, 26, 34, 34, 39, 42, 44, 47, 50, 61, 62, 64, 65, 68, 76, 84, 90, 99, 102, 106, 107, 108, 109, 115, 118, 132 and 151.

How well protected are we against COVID-19: a new test could provide accurate data on immunity....Less than 24 hours. That is the time it takes for the new test developed by researchers from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (United States), together with scientists from Singapore, Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain, to provide accurate data on the immunity against SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19. "Rapid, high-throughput methods are needed to measure the level and duration of immune responses," the experts stated in the study published in the journal Nature Biotechnology. The test was licensed by the biotechnology company Hyris (in the UK) and is already in use in Europe.
"The lack of rapid, easy-to-use, accessible, scalable and accurate diagnostic methods to quantify cellular immunity prevents large population studies, which affects long-term vaccination strategies and public health responses to pandemics, such as the one caused by SARS-CoV- 2″, said the scientists, noting the reasons that led them to develop this new diagnostic test.

It is a blood test that can measure, in a rapid way, the protection that a person presents against the COVID virus. "Our assays may allow large-scale monitoring of the magnitude and duration of functional T-cell immunity to SARS-CoV-2, which helps to prioritize revaccination strategies in vulnerable populations," the experts explained in the paper....
