Covid Vaccination Argentina

29 June 2022
Omicron BA.5 arrived in Argentina: the subvariant that is driving up Covid cases worldwide. The (National) Ministry of Health released its latest genomic surveillance report, which revealed that the Omicron subvariants that are currently causing Covid cases to rise in several countries around the world are already in Argentina. They are BA.4 and BA.5. For this reason, experts believe that in the coming weeks there could be a further increase in the number of cases in the country, as the proportion of circulation of these variants rises. The variant situation in the country "is currently characterized by an exclusive circulation of the Omicron variant. The proportion of the Omicron variant in cases with no history of international travel or related to importation stands at 100 % for the country as a whole, among the samples analyzed by genomic sequencing," the report states....

....The investigation adds that "as regards the sub-lines of Omicron in the period analyzed - up to June 11 - the percentage of BA.2 is 70.3%. Additionally, to date there is one case of BA.4 whose epidemiological background is under investigation and one case of BA.5 with a history of international travel". "While it has been suggested that prior infection with one of the Omicron sub lineages confers significant protection against infection with another sub lineage, this protection is not complete and has been assessed in the short term following primary infection (94.9% protection for BA.2 following infection with BA.1 and 85.6% for BA.1 following infection with BA.2)," the report said....

....The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) said on Tuesday that the pace of vaccination must "accelerate" in the Americas, where 11 countries have not yet reached the goal of immunizing 40% of their population. This was stated by PAHO Director, Carissa Etienne of the Dominican Republic, during the virtual press conference that the organization provides every two weeks to report on the progress of the pandemic in the region. According to the data she provided, in the last week there were 1.3 million new cases of covid-19 in the region, representing an increase of 13.9% over the previous seven days. She added that in North America the increase was 7.7%, in South America 24.6% and in the Caribbean 3.2%....

The La Nacion COVID tracker is showing zero cases, which doesn't seem very plausible: https://www.lanacion.com.ar/socieda...allecidos-coronavirus-argentina-nid2350330/#/ What's happened? Did they lose interest?
hopefully so.
The weekly report continuous to be posted online by the National Ministry of Health.

Perhaps it was the national minister of health, Dr. Carla Vizzotti, who lost interest in delivering her weekly
press conferences to report on the number of cases, etc.?

From Infobae , April 18, the ministry of health actually made an announcement about not delivering daily data:

"el Ministerio de Salud decidió dejar de informar los nuevos casos y fallecimientos cada 24 horas y empezó a hacerlo de forma semanal desde ayer".

Not sure what your point was?

Science says: these are the vaccines against Covid-19 that can give longer-lasting protection. Immunity against infection declines over time, and vaccines provide longer protection than naturally produced antibodies, so boosters are needed. A study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) analyzed the durability of the protection provided by the vaccines currently applied against Covid-19, and its comparison with the immunity granted by the infection naturally. According to this research, the current messenger RNA vaccines, Pfizer and Moderna, offer the longest duration of protection and highlight the need for booster vaccination to reduce infections and reinfections....
