Crongreso Area Bar Has No Colombians Sign On Door ...

I think the Bar needs to change the sign to something more general like...
"This establishment reserves the right to refuse service" without mentioning nationality.
This way nobody feels slighted and you can still kick people out.

I wonder if they're asking everybody who enters for proof of nationality. Obviously, this is flagrantly discriminatory and tasteless, but I don't know whether or not it violates any Argentine law.

I think they are stupid for writing that, now they're probably going to get vandalism and loads of problems. i totally agree with with johnnie walker, they should've put the sign: "This establishment reserves the right to refuse service"

I have a sign on my door that says, "Navy & Marines Served First. Harley's must use drip pan."

Is that a problem?

:)

Hi,

I think you misunderstood the sign, i bet it refers to not having Colombian waiters/attendants. As of the last few years there has been a huge boom of Colombian employees on Bars/Kiosks and such, maybe the bar owner thought people would prefer locals or some bullshit.

In any case the owner is probably a douche. As an Argentinean i find Colombians here to be much more polite and capable than locals, at least for thee kinds of jobs which is where I've met most of them.

Cheers.

My wife manages our rental properties and she has a list of nationalities she chooses not to rent to. A very thorough vetting process , I must say.

As for Columbians , I believe some have been involved in strong armed robberies in Buenos Aires. With such knowledge , I would be very hesitant to publicly specify the fact they are not welcome , as then you invite yourself to become a target. PC or not , to me it is just stupid.
