Current Cost Of Living

Very general: take what you need in the US or Canada, you will need 50% to 70% of that to live similar here comparing on what city and neighborhood you choose and other factors. Rough estimate.

At the high end of the scale you can get by on 40%--ie if you need 15k US to survive in the states you could probably do similar for 6k here, but if you are getting by on 5K US there you will probably need 2.5K in Argentina, at least.

The Above estimates of $1600 dollars per month is a survival amount for celibate, singles, if you want to socialize, go to clubs and entertain "partners", travel on weekends, theaters, concerts, events etc ad another US$ 500... :D fer sure!

I allotted $1200 pesos per month for "socializing" that doesn't include his dinners which are separate. If he wants to go buck wild he can certainly spend that much more, or wants to wine and dine an argentine lady, but he should already be aware those things cost more money - in any country.

Ugi.... glad there's no Ugi in Europe

Love your avatar of "Le Roi Soleil " Luis XIV? never so true "L'etat C'est Moi"

Even Joe would turn up his nose at the plastic pizza of Ugi

Ugi's Pizza is only a starter, you take it home spread on top diced tomatoes concasee , red onion rings and plenty of Fresh Basil leaves and buds , reheat, and Voila your guests are delighted for $27 pesos?? Serve with a chilled Torontes..!!
Do not divulge this secret or prices may go up :D

Pardon my indiscretion ! but who is He?

Hey! Thanks for the many responses! They give me a good idea, sounds like prices have gone up a lot, but it does sound like by bringing in USD cash, I could probably get by quite nicely for $2000-$2500/month. Given I'm currently spending $3500/month, it wouldn't take long to balance out that plane ticket.

My spanish is mediocre at best, but good enough to negotiate a lease.

How much cheaper is Mendoza?
