Dealing with blackouts

On the way to Nordelta from CABA, apart from Mexican holiday, property and cruise holidays billboards there were also electric generator billboards. It is awful to have those blackouts. Talking to my 80 yo uncle the other day; he said he never knew any power cuts even when he was a young kid in Argentina. What a glorious nation Argentina was!!

I remember rolling blackouts almost nightly during the summer. Early 1960s Bella Vista right by Campo de Mayo.

Apropós of nothing, apart from forum members helping each other out, sharing information and the like, this is one of the best thing about the forum, someone will try it on, taking the piss, desperate for credibility, and a forum member will pull him up short with a reminder about how things really were.

Apropos of nothing. Yeah! I’m not taking the piss not desperate for credibility! If things really were like that then why you moved to Argentina? Enjoy blackouts?

I'm not well, pushing 80 years-old and currently living in an apt on the 12th floor neat Callao y Corrientes. Does anyone know if areas are warned before a blackout? I'm afraid to leave the apt to buy candles (and maybe a flashlight) without knowing if I'll be able to access the elevater when I return. Thanks, and please avoid danger.
Major power cut in the metropolitan area: https://www.infobae.com/sociedad/20...-barrios-de-caba-y-provincia-de-buenos-aires/

Apparently power was cut to 800,000 users, and been restored to 400,000 already (Edenor). Trains, Subtes, traffic lights, and so all affected too.

I live in Caballito....2 blocks from Av. Rivadavia and Av. Acoyte. The electricity provider is Edesur.
Yesterday we lost power at 4:20pm and was restored at 5:00pm.

Bizzarely in 15 years of living here on and off I’ve never lost power for more than a couple of minutes.

I was working away at the time of the massive apagón when the hydraulic electric plant tripped.

In the 60s and 70s we had massive power outages. I remember many summer nights with no electricity in my neighborhood.
At a certain point the electrical outages had been programmed in advance and we knew what to expect but it didn't use to happen every summer like it's been happening during the last years.
I Remember celebrating carnaval in my neighborhood in CABA in the dark.

Yesterday's outage is a bit worrying, while it was hot in CABA, it was nowhere near the 40 degrees cited as the danger level for power cuts in CABA.
