Debate: Bedbug or Tick

I second Davidglen77...it could be what is called sarna humana (human mange)--something I picked up from my neices and nephews. They sell a cream in pharmacies--just say you need something for sarna humana.

I had the same problem when I first arrive in B.A.

I couldn't sleep. I was itchy all over the place. I thought it was my mother i law's cat and dog that had fleas. then i thought it was the detergent that the lavanderia was using....

but i decided to fumigate the room with Raid.

it helped for a bit......

i just think that apartment buildings in B.A. are super old and holding a huge amount of weird things that crawl out at night. especially if you have a carpet.

i don't have that problem anymore. i am in San Francisco, CA but apparently there is a bed bug infestation in NYC. I hope it doesn't migrate over here...

good luck.

dear LATOBA:
what you need is to remove the mattress ASAP and sanitize all the area you are living on. good luck.

You almost certainly have bedbugs. There is one way to tell for certain. When you kill a bedbug, it produces a distinctive, acrid odor for several seconds. (Ticks do not do this, and are much more difficult to kill.) If you do have bedbugs, get out of the apartment as soon as you can - they are almost impossible to get rid of without tenting the building and fumigating it. Make sure you thoroughly wash all clothing, sheets, etc. with borax detergent and hot water when you move, and do not take any soft/cloth covered furniture with you - particularly your bed. Hope this was helpful.

Bedbugs (chinches), Scabies (sarna) and other skin / contact related afflictions are much more common here than in the USA and they spread to more people. Reason being is most people here don't wash clothes in hot water and they don't dry clothes in a dryer with hot air. That is why these annoying problems are much less frequent in the USA than here and other countries in Latin America. I am not criticizing here, and don't mean to sound condescending. I was told this by a dermatologist at my obra social who studied medicine in Pennsylvania.
