Trump has 62 percent disapproval rating in new AP poll

The majority of Americans in a new poll disapproves of President Trump’s overall performance, despite greater support for the president’s handling of the economy than other issues in the survey.

Sixty-two percent of Americans said they disapprove of the job Trump is doing, while just 36 percent approve, according to the Associated Press–NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll released Thursday.

While low compared to former President Obama, Trump’s latest approval rating is relatively consistent with the polling results seen throughout his first term. Trump’s approval rating has stayed between 32 and 42 percent throughout his time in office, the AP noted.

Bernie Sanders’s ‘Green New Deal’: A $16 Trillion Climate Plan

22bernie-climate-superJumbo.jpg

The cost of inaction is unacceptable. Economists estimate that if we do not take action, we will lose $34.5 trillion in economic activity by the end of the century. And the benefits are enormous: by taking bold and decisive action, we will save $2.9 trillion over 10 years, $21 trillion over 30 years, and $70.4 trillion over 80 years.

We cannot accomplish any of these goals without taking on the fossil fuel billionaires whose greed lies at the very heart of the climate crisis. These executives have spent hundreds of millions of dollars protecting their profits at the expense of our future, and they will do whatever it takes to squeeze every last penny out of the Earth. Bernie promises to go further than any other presidential candidate in history to end the fossil fuel industry’s greed, including by making the industry pay for its pollution and prosecuting it for the damage it has caused.

And most importantly, we must build an unprecedented grassroots movement that is powerful enough to take them on, and win. Young people, advocates, tribes, cities and states all over this country have already begun this important work, and we will continue to follow their lead.

Another excellent cut and paste job courtesy of banana, I mean mango. We are so fortunate banana, I mean mango, can operate those buttons with such competence. If banana, I mean mango, were any less intelligent, you would have to give him/her water twice per week.

Mango, like a fruit left out in the hot sun for a few weeks, shows real ignorance as all sane people (which excludes leftist loons) know an AP poll is as worthless as used, wet toilet paper!
Nice try mango but no cigar. Actually, after reading a few of your grammatically incorrect posts, I'm not sure what you smoke though I've no doubt you have a supply of oft used crack pipes.

Tax on super-rich a popular idea, except in the media

An aspect of the rich-poor gap that fills people with wonder is the way the rich manage to keep it off the political agenda, although that may be changing.
warren_buffett.jpg

Prominent U.S. Democratic presidential contenders Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are campaigning on taxing the super-rich, with Warren calling for a two per cent annual tax on wealth above $50 million, rising to three per cent on billionaires.

In Canada, where politicians have shied away from even putting their toe in the water when it comes to taxing the rich, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has taken a bold plunge, calling for a version of Warren’s tax — an annual one per cent tax on wealth over $20 million.

This is an excellent idea, and is apparently popular. A new Abacus poll shows that 67 per cent of Canadians support (or somewhat support) a wealth tax, along the lines proposed by Warren, and that even a majority of Conservative voters support it.

Yet the wealth tax has received little media coverage — beyond denunciations in the National Post, which surely has nothing to do with the fact the media is largely owned by billionaires.

'Your Life Will End': As GOP's Islamophobic Attacks Continue, Rep. Ilhan Omar Shares Terrifying Reality of Death Threats

"I hate that we live in a world where you have to be protected from fellow humans. I hated it as a child living through war and I hate it now."

ilhan_omar_1_0.jpg

Rep. Ilhan Omar on Wednesday offered her perspective on the threats and threatening political rhetoric targeting her and her family due to her position as one of the first Muslim women in Congress.

After a reporter tweeted an image of Omar speaking at an event in Minnesota with a bodyguard standing behind her, the congresswoman tweeted that recent xenophobic language and threats, coming from anonymous senders as well as from the White House and the halls of Congress, have forced her "to accept the reality of having security."

Since then, Trump and other high-level Republicans have drawn outrage as they've continued to stoke Islamophobic and anti-immigrant sentiment against Omar.

Trump said in July that Omar and three other progressive women of color in Congress should "go back" to the countries they and their families had come from. Of the four congresswomen, only Omar was actually born outside the United States—emigrating from Somalia as a refugee when she was a child.

On social media, supporters of Omar decried Republicans' tacit encouragement of the threats against her and applauded her for speaking out about the danger the president and others in the GOP have helped to place her in.

Actually Tom Steyer, a billionaire, just bought himself a place in the Democrat Clown Car, so total is now 11.

Another meeting of socialists. Since there is no CFK rally scheduled that evening, I assume most other socialists will be able to attend.
