We'll be buying a fridge and stove soon, so good to hear some reviews.

ElQueso - you most likely made a good choice going with the non anti-frost fridge. I've heard that apparently people are having issues and that parts to fix it can't be found.


Anyone have any brand recommendations for a stove/oven combo or if best to go separate, space permitting? I wanted to find a stove/oven with some type of precise temperature control, but I guess gas stoves don't come with this? I might have to use a separate thermometer.

I miss American appliances.

Because if it's made in Argentina you will need parts. Soon. However if it's only assembled here you might get lucky. Do not let the maid anywhere near it. They consider it to be a job threat.

We ended up with a Gafa fridge however it is already getting ice on the back panel inside of the fridge and a lot in the freezer after just 1 day - surely not normal??

Is it shutting completely? Sometimes if air gets in, freeze grows inside the fridge. Turn on a flashlight and put it inside the fridge at night with the kitchen lights tirned off and you'll be able to tell if it's shutting properly.

I bought a Franke/ Spar Cocina, and I have been happy with it- Franke is actually Swiss, but their Argentine branch makes all the Argentine stuff here- so its higher than local quality, but locally made- so you can get parts.
They make electric and gas ovens, and one piece cocinas or hornos/anafes.

Showroom is on Santa Fe, right on the corner of 9 de Julio.

More expensive than chinese stuff that is assembled in Tierra Del Fuego, but what do you expect?
Mine is seven years old now, still looks and works great.
They make high quality piletas as well, along with hoods and various other kitchen stuff, but I dont know if they make dishwashers.

We bought Franke separate gas stove top and electric oven. The oven has great temperature control, unlike our prior gas oven, which was hot or hotter.
The Franke is beautiful and I love it. For fridge and dishwasher we bought LG. I'm happy with everything so far.

We bought Ariston, gas top and electric oven. Works beautifully and after 20 years, no repairs. Do not know if Ariston is still available in Argentina. We are so pleased with it. My husband is our dishwasher, also old and working perfectly!

My friend has that stove, it's fabulous. But I don't think that set up is available any more, pretty sure it's all electric now.

PS The auto defrost works fine...... for the last 7 years.
