hi all,

i know there are a lot of threads about migraciones issues. i went through a bunch of them but did not find the answer to my question. I have the residencia temporaria, first year, after the precaria. it expires jan 3 and has to be renewed. i also have the DNI which expires the same day, has to be renewed.

my question is about the 6-months per year residency requirement. is this a fact? (i live here only part-time.) and how is it determined? by entry and exit stamps? or otherwise?

my DNI said i entered the country last january (correct, although the precaria process was already in place, and i had been here the year before). it also says my date of "radicacion" is may 20. are either of these dates meaningful in this context? i was not here the whole time since may 20.

and what if migraciones determines that i was not here for at least 6 month? my husband is in the same situation.

i'd appreciate any clarification. sorry if this is already contained in another thread, but i did not find it.

thx!!

What type of visa do you have? Rentista? Work permit? Is it a one year visa?

If you have a one year visa such as rentista, there is no 6 month residency requirement. At least i have never heard of anything like this, and i have certainly been in violation of it, if in fact it did exist. And if I was in violation of it in the past many times, it certainly was never brought to my attention nor was it ever an issue when i became a permanent resident.

my husband has the work visa, and that's how i got my status. it is based on a contract which has to be renewed every year.

so, no 6-month residency requirement??

thx for your reply.

Actually I don't know for sure about the work permit visa...perhaps there is something that says 6 month requirement. Ask the lawyer that got the work permit for your husband.

actually we don't have a lawyer. the visa says nothing about 6 months, it's just i have heard rumors about it and maybe i am misinformed.

mmmmm. I don´t understand. Forget papers.
How long have you been in Argentina?

Your visa follows your husband visa status. If they make any problem remember that as an inhabitant you have the right to live here with your husband.
