Domestic Help - En Blanco? En Negro? help

The cost of having an employee "en blanco" is not high: $206 pesos a month if they work up to 12 hours per week.

it used to be that people of means scorned the less fortunate for this practice.....now they have reversed it

Argentina is a different case, in this country it's not so wise paying all of your taxes simply because most people don't pay them even those who can and should. If it were like in Finland then people would be happy to pay their share and know that all this money will come back in form of quality service and social assistance, not the case in Argentina where so many politicians and company owners steal with impunity.

"En blanco" domestic workers get two weeks paid vacation a year plus "aguinaldo", an extra month's salary paid half in June and half in December. The minimum wage is $96 per hour, but the going rate is $150.

I was contemplating hiring some help for around the house. Can someone please explain the latest legal requirements on this subject. It seems like the young lady I want to hire wants to be "en negro", not sure why. Any input on this would be much appreciated.

If she works en blanco she loose the social help.

If you pay all your taxes, they are like 108% of your income...
