Dual citizenship allowed?

I noticed that one of the questions on the SS proof of life form was whether you had become a citizen of another country. I answered “no”, because I had not. However, I had considered taking out Argentine citizenship, being under the impression that the U.S. allows dual citizenship. This particular question on the SS proof of life form makes me wonder if this is true? Does anyone know? Has this changed anyway in recent years?

Some countries require Americans to have visas to enter them, but not make the same requirement of Argentines. This is one of the possible advantages of taking out Argentine citizenship.

Of course the US allows dual citizenship. But it affects your SS payments.

SSA specifically says that citizenship is relevant to payments made outside the U.S. because:

• U.S. citizens generally aren’t subject to the “alien nonpayment” rules that can restrict payments to non-U.S. citizens abroad.
• For a non-U.S. citizen, citizenship in certain countries can create an exception to those restrictions.
• Citizenship can also affect nonresident alien tax withholding.
