I suddenly got the opportunity to take a short escapada to El Calafate and I will be leaving on Tuesday 22nd (will return on Friday 25th).
Just wondering if there will be someone over there in the same period and if you have recommendations for food. I will be traveling alone, so no formal dining setting.

I have already booked everything, so I am just looking for suggestions on food and eventually what to buy there.
Is sunscreen required? I don't plan on trekking on the glacier, just to take the usual cruise through the glacier(s) and the path to the southern wall of the glacier.

I read somewhere there is a small reserve bordering El Calafate - any feedback on that?

I'd definitely bring sunscreen, the sun is stronger there, I remember our tour guides aways stressing for us to re-apply, if you'll be outside, what can it hurt?

Don't remember restaurants as I went nearly 6 yeras ago but this cafe sticks in my mind, it was great! Great brownies, a nice place to cozy up with a hot coffee or hot chocolate and warm up

We just came back from touring southern Argentina, icluding el Calafate. It was the highlight of our trip. Amazing place! Some of our friends recomended us Isabel restaurant and let me tell you, it was the best "al disco" we have ever tasted . I would highly recomend it. The porcions are huge, so maybe you would wanna find some company to share it with :) Have a fun trip. Here is a link for the restaurant
