Emergency dentist cost

I recently went to DAS and was told I needed a root canal, and replacement of an old filling, at a cost of $980US. I then got a second opinion from a dentist I saw locally years ago who saw no need for a root canal. In fact no intervention at all has been necessary. Interestingly when I saw the dentist at DAS he mentioned that his records showed I had been there before when the offices were on Uruguay. This was many years ago, maybe 2007 or thereabouts. Upon reflection I remembered a root canal being offered at that time and my thinking it was a scam.

Seems exhorbitant.

My husband had a tooth pulled at a good dentist in the city and it was like 2000 pesos a couple months ago.

I would fight this. Get someone (ideally a local) to get a quote for the procedures you were given from their office. Try to get it in writing - email, WhatsApp, etc. Then go back and point out that there must have been a mistake. If they argue, threaten to go to defensa de consumidor and follow through if they refuse to reimburse you. Also leave a bad review if it comes to that. Keep and copy all receipts and communications.

Is their a way for me to contact defensa de consumidor as an English Speaker. I can ask the protectionist at my Hotel to help about getting a quote.

One other thing which I thought was odd was that the male dentist seemed to be encouraging me to commit insurance fraud. Basically he asked me if I ever thought about getting Implants he said he could write it down as an emergency procedure for my insurance . Even do it obviously would not be.

I've never had to contact them myself (though that may change if my husband doesn't get a refund from a purchase soon) and don't know if anyone there speaks English. Probably best to write to them in Spanish. https://www.argentina.gob.ar/defensadelconsumidor/formulario
I've heard good things and that they do try to help.

First I would try to work with the clinic, though. Go back and tell them it's too much. Do you have a receipt? Having a quote helps to make your case. Maybe just asking will get you some money back.

Your other option if you paid with a credit card is to dispute the charge with the credit card company. But it helps to know 1. What procedures you underwent and 2. Reasonable market prices for those procedures.

I went to this place about three years ago and was somewhat disappointed with the work. I had a crown put on and it hurt like the dickens - they had to ground down the tooth to fit the crown on. Being an old veteran of dental procedures my gut told me I needed a root canal but unlike the previous poster they actively discouraged the root canal. I ended up getting a root canal in the US about one year later when the pain came back.

This office has elaborate security for a dentist office. Double buzzed in doors and cameras everywhere. Not sure what was going on there.

I had three professionals work on me. All were attractive young ladies in their twenties - had they even graduated yet? I was thinking maybe this was a dental training center.

As for the OP, one always needs to ask for the cost prior to performing the work - even for a dental emergency like a tooth abscess - take Tylenol and walk down Santa Fe until you find a dentist that gives you a reasonable price - which will probably be the first one you ask - if you ask the price first.

In all honesty if is my own fault. When he gave me the quote he told me that this was what I needed to fix the pain and I like a idiot agreed and didn't question him. Do keep in mind that at this point I had been up for twenty four hours and I was in agony . In reality to get rid of the pain I probably didn't need the work he suggested. He asked if had travel insurance before he gave me the quote and after he said not to worry that they will pay for it. The security at the place is weird I ask the receptionist and apparently they had a robbery once.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. A bit over the top.

I signed up for a free online series by dental professionals in the USA that is extremely informative. Each one-hour session is posted online at 10pm and available for viewing 24 hours.

Hi all,
So i am currently in BA and this morning I had the worst tooth ache that I ever had in my life. I looked up English speaking dentist and found a place that took me . Pain is better but my bank balance is in pain now as it cost something like 1800 US is that normal. My insurance will cover at least 600 of it but 1800 US seems steep for an extraction and a root canal.
A month ago I paid $4000 pesos for a root canal - about sixty dollars. This was at a top specialist. An extraction should cost about the same, at most.

For emergency dental service, the Hospital Aleman has dentists on duty, or on call, 24/7. Their prices are quite reasonable.
