End of Dual citizenship for US passport holders?

Is renouncing US citizenship sufficient to lose US tax residency? If so, under the proposed law all those US taxpayers living here in Argentina (let's call them "expats" for want of a precise term) who had Argentine citizenship and tax residency and so faced double taxation would have an escape hatch: choose Argentina and only pay tax once--here (and perhaps pay less than they would pay by staying loyal to the US and declaring there).

Never happen! That’d mean that they’d have to do away with fatca, can’t have taxation without representation, and I can’t believe that any politician would vote for doing away with a tax!

I imagine that if one renounced their US citizenship that they’d no longer be eligible for social security benefits…?

I don't think that US citizenship has ever been a condition of recieving them, so renouncing US citizenship should not constitute grounds for losing Social Security benefits, whichin the past have been, and are currently being paid to millions of non-citzens.

Unfortunatelly, rules of law, negotiated positions, and long standing practice mean nothing to dictators ... or their stooges .
