Exchange Rate Robbery or Reasonable?

Tourists usually have access to dollars, if not they have Western Union that is currently paying out at 4.55. I guess Western Union is doing something illegal as well right ??? Nope, they just live in reality, not some fictitious high horse.

Legal immigrants have DNI's and have access to long term unfurnished Peso rates. And owners don't have to accept anything other than what is stated on the contract they signed. If you don't like the terms, don't sign the contract. If at some point you can't honor the terms, move out. Pretty simple.

But you can continue to try to make the Argentinian property owner the villain.

Right. And I didn't have problem with it when it was possible to buy dollars openly. If you can buy dollars legally, great. But most people can not. Now it is not possible thus pushing people to the illegal black market or insisting they pay the black market rate. That is not fair. And if they accept that you pay in pesos they should accept the official rate. And that is my problem with it.

I was going to say we can agree to disagree. But I don't actually disagree with the entirety of what you are writing. In some cases it is best to find a new place to live.

It would be nice if you stop insulting people who disagree with you. I do not have a "chip on my shoulder" nor am I on a "high horse". It is MY OPINION which I am entitle to. People are free to disagree. Simple. There are plenty of things going on in the world that I don't agree with.

As for Western Union, I don't know if what they are doing is legal. Do you actually know if they are complying with the new laws?

Hey guys! Some of you have been on this board a very long time and some of you are like family. And just like a family you seem to be falling out with each other over money. Remember, these are externally triggered events and it's not the fault of the family: be gentle with each other eh?

I wouldn't categorize the " chip on your shoulder " observation as an insult. If you took it that way, I apologize. And the high horse comment wasn't directed at you, it was more of a general statement.

As far as Western Union goes. I don't know, nor do I care. All I know is that they are paying out in Pesos at 4.55. Something which seems perfectly reasonable to me. Go figure.

Well, Ok. Thanks for that. :D

My opinion is worth what you paid for it. I'll even give you the official rate of exchange. :D

If somebody insists that you should follow your obligations to him precisely and to the fullest extent, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that he is also supposed to follow his own obligations, including his obligation to pay taxes as any law-obedient citizen?

Yes and no, as he properly assert, if he pays or not his taxes is not your busisness.

As I explained, the contracst in dollars are forbidden by law.
