Who can believe that only 3% of Argentina is "immigrant"? I can hardly take a walk in the parks anymore on Sundays because there are no Argies left. Even in Recoleta I'm harrassed on the street for change by the very productive "new Argentinians" being imported. The Kirchnerista govt. is "electing a new people"; people who will vote for them indefinitely in exchange for handouts. The idea that all you need to be an Argie is a piece of paper and that criticizing this makes you a "raciss" suits them just fine.

if you are building your life here, ... you are An Immigrant ... you are an Argentine ... even if you have no legal residency .. documents or no documents ... the piece of paper is only just formalities .... You are HOME FOR THE LONG HAUL.

If you are just passing time by here .... you are a guest ... you are an Expat ... Argentina is NOT HOME !

My final 2 cents !

The actual percentage of resident immigrants in Argentina is 4.5%. (I think the 3% number I had read is the number of immigrants as a percentage of all those in the country eligible to vote -- I had read the number last year in relation to the 2014 elections.)

However, as related to el kirchnerismo and the notion that they are importing votes, the 4.5% number is very misleading. In the last decade (la década ganada), the immigrant population has increased by only 0.3%, or 300,000 new immigrants.

Rather than relying on your personal anecdotal information, perhaps you should spend five minutes investigating the facts.

And maybe you're right. People that have no idea what really goes on in the country they're living in perhaps shouldn't talk about that country (if only to avoid making fools of themselves).

Well,it is your opinion, other may disagree
I agree about the lack of choices, but what we have,in my opinion,is good, not as good,as it used to be,but fair.
And frankly,if a french or spaniard complains about food,I understand, but an american...come on,most of the food you eat there,is garbage forbidden in europe

I am not American.

It is my opinion, that's completely true.

Yes because the govt. figures on other things like inflation are so accurate, right?

It's too bad you don't realize you're a useful idiot for the very regime you oppose. The Kirchner govt. is not alone in using mass immigration as a way to consolidate its power; the govt. in the US and in Western Europe works the same way. And they also demonize those who complain about this cynical ploy as "rayciss" bigots.

Ok

2) Your basically saying that even if you live here for 10 years, 20 years you are not "Argentinian" so shut the f&** up about politics
3) You do realise that if you're a citizen VOTING IS COMPULSORY
4) but according to you even if you're a citizen and therefore HAVE to vote you're not Argentine so you're not allowed to comment on politics

EDIT: Nos. 1 & 5 have been removed because I may have repented the decision to insinuate that the OP's intelligence was possibly lower than that of the general population

Wow Syngirl, love the subtle and tactful way to say #1 and #5 without saying it! Well done.

Opinions are like a certain part of the human anatomy - we all have them unless they've been replaced with a plastic bag.

WRT to the politics of a country I am visiting - unless I am visiting for a longer term then 1 or 2 months I am probably ignorant of the local politics and wouldn't have an opinion that I could express. Although I've been here in BA for almost a month and sadly will be leaving on Sunday, the only things I know about the politics here could fit on the head of a pin. With what little I do know about the subject if someone were to ask me my opinion I would give it to them but that would be it. If I lived here long term, paid taxes, and could vote then I would participate in the politics.

I am a guest in Argentina; I have a moral (my morals) responsibilty to respect the people and Argentina; to not be that ugly American (or any other country) that I used to hate when I saw my shipmates ((Navy or Coast Guard) be the ugly one. In Japan in the 70s one of my shipmates referred to the Japanese as dumb@sses. When I asked him why he stated because they don't speak English. I had to laugh, English Language lessons are compulsory in schools in Japan. I reminded him we were guests in Japan and since we didn't speak Japanese we were the ignorant ones. I don't think the thought ever sunk into his head. I do not speak Spanish; I am learning, I need to - we have a house in Colombia, a condo in Mexico, and a new granddaughter here is BA so we will travel a lot; especially when the cold nothern winds blow icy weather with snow into Michigan. Part of my learning language problem is when we're in Colombia my wife's very large family want to practice their English!

Back to the topic; if I had a political opinion and you asked for it I would give it to you; but that would be the extent. If I was a voter here then I feel as if I had the right to express it and to politic for the person/party/issue of my choice.

I'm sure that politicians in Argentina are no better or worse then their US counterparts when it comes to vote buying by legislation or executive fiat. The current president of the US is a pro at this; free 2 year college for all, Executive Amnesty for illegal aliens, vote buying in my opinion - social programs without funding.
