Has somebody here on BAexpat travelled to Falklands or do you know someone that have done it?

I am interested to get further information regarding a trip there and what the cheapest way from Buenos Aires.

Thanks in advance!

The only way to fly from South America is Via Lan Chile.

They have a weekly flight on Saturdays from Santiago via Punta Arenas.

You have to stay a week to get the return flight !!

I have heard a rumour that Christina is looking to suspend the flight to further pressurize the UK government to sit down and negotiate

How would christina suspend a flight operated by a chilean carrier?

Unless you are a bird watcher or a shipwreck student, a week is a long time to spend there. LADE (Lineas Areas del Estado) flown by the Argentine Airforce used to provide weekly service before the war on a flight from AEP that made about 5 stops on the way. Now you have to fly from Chile but there is a direct flight from England. I made a trip there in March 1982, a few weeks before the war.

My friend flew there recently from Aeroparque, I think it was a charter though. I'll ask him. He did say that it is really spectacular, the wildlife is just something else.
