I always wondered why gay and lesbians needed to close themselves in their community, pretty much excluding anything heterosexual in their socialising circles.
This applies to all kind of racial groups, social classes, age groups, nationality. Communitarism builds artificial barreers between people, while difference is what feeds a conversation, trying to understand other s feelings, logics, motivations...
What motivates the need to narrow one s horizons?
Fear? Distrust? Clichés?
Oddly enough, i always had the other reflex : curiosity about people different, disconfort with people too similar. I feel that my life can be enriched of other people s life experience...
