I thought it might be worth drawing peoples' attention to the fact that tickets have already gone on sale for FIBA 2011, Buenos Aires's fabulous festival of theater. Starting on the 24th of this month and going on for a couple of weeks, there are nearly 50 different works from international productions of Hamlet and the Magic Flute to local productions. A lot of Chilean works are also featured this year. This is a great way to get to know a lot of the offbeat venues of BA as well as the mainstream ones. http://www.festivaldeteatroba.gob.ar/home11/web/es/index.html

For those uninterested in theater, there is also Expotrastiendas on at the Rural until the 5th September. This is an expo of contemporary art covering a pretty wide range of styles and mediums. http://www.feriade.com/expotrastiendas.php

Also, don't forget the Wine expo starting at the Rural on the 14th.

It occurred to me that it would be really useful to all members of this site if people made the effort to post all interesting cultural events in this section as not all of them (i.e. the private, non government sponsored ones) appear on the Government of BA's cultural agenda. I read so many people saying there is little to do other than go drinking at Gibraltar, perhaps a concerted effort at contributing suggestions to the culture section might fill this apparent void and balance the negativity that seems to dominate this site.

About FIBA, those who are interested on going, hurry up. I bought some tickets last tuesday and many functions were already sold out.
