Flu? What To Do?

chris. i take alka seltzer cold and flu in the morning. seems to dry me up some. vitamin c at night. rest when possible. i tried a zpac early on to no avail. i tried zicam for a week but did not help either. my experience was pretty bad for the first week. lots of coughing in the morning to the point of dry heaving. i became functional after that, but some days went home early to rest. still not exercising except for 30 minute walks. maybe next week, crossing my fingers.

My temperature reached nearly 39 today so I called the doctor who came in two hours. She wasn't sure if it is flu. Said temp was 37.5 (maybe my thermometer isn't accurate). Told me to take two Tafirol every six hours. If temperature does not drop by Tuesday morning , go to the guardia for tests.

Are you sure you didn't get bitten by an infected mosquito? If I were you, I'd get a doctor.

Supposedly, in Capital at least, Zikka is not here. Dengue and yellow fever on the other hand...

I would go to a public hospital, you will have to wait but you will be seen and then you only need to pay for the medication. There is a really good drug that I used when I was sick two weeks ago but I don't remember what it is called. Sorry to not be much help.

I don't have most of the Dengue symptoms. Have had Yellow Fever vaccine so can't be that.
Doctor came to my home last night but she didn't seem to have much to say: Said take two Tafirol every six hours and if the fever persists go to the guardia.
I see my GP tomorrow. Appointment made a long time ago. If he thinks I need tests I'll get them. Sometimes I feel reasonably well but energy level drops especially in the humidity. Some cough/congestion and hoarse voice, especially after talking for awhile.

Well, that's a good start. The most likely scenario is that you are just resfriado or con gripe. I hope that is the case and that you feel better ASAP!

Thank you. I went to my doctor today and he said definitely it is flu. Rest and liquid. People here often say "gripe" when they mean a cold. I've only had the flu twice in my life before this, both when I was in my teens. I actually think the origin was an AA flight last week. Bathroom got filthy.
