I'm suppose to fly out of EZE the morning of April 6th, which is the same date of the general strike. I'll obviously call the airline as the date gets closer, but has anyone ever had any experience with this? What are the chances I can leave that day? Are all flights usually cancelled the day of general strikes?

I sell tickets for a living.

Most intl. flights, especially long-haul, end up departing after midnight. Domestic and regional flights may pose a problem.

Thanks Ben! My flight is scheduled around 11am to Panama City, so I guess I'm looking at departure early morning on the 7th.

Not 100% positive. I'm hearing rumblings that some airlines' operations just might not be impacted. You may fly earlier.
Keep an ear to the ground. And find out if Copa is willing to reschedule you to the previous night's flight.

I was afraid of this last year -- that the strike would coincide with my flight. They might block access to Ezeiza which could cause you to miss your flight. I don't know if the airlines would refund the fare.

I left from EZE 3 weeks ago. A few hours before the flight I noticed that the departure time had been moved up by one hour. We had to scramble to finish packing and rearrange our transportation to the airport.

Is this a common occurrence?

If you were traveling to the US, it could have been a result of the change to daylight time. I left on March 6. My husband left on the same flight on March 14, and it left an hour earlier.

By no means uncommon. By now they usually have the time changes clear well in advance, but sometimes they don't and that may also be a factor.

It is a fairly common part of my job to reaccommodate passengers whose connections were made impossible because of schedule changes.

Say somebody had a feeder flight with Gol to Brazil, connecting to Air France to Paris.

Then Air France decides to make their flight to Paris half an hour earlier, making the connection time 30 minutes - and I lose 2 hours of my day.
