Nikad-Where did you hear that medical is going up 24%? Usually in the past it has normally been 10% or so beginning in January. Was this in the media?

Martin, health insurance went up 22% last January - not 10%. At this rate it will approach US prices in a few years. Remember that many of us here earn pesos and not dollars!

Sergio-Sorry I thought it was 12%. Guess I wasn't paying attention since everything seems to go up its hard to keep track. Remember that bag of cat litter than I was complaining about? From 1.90 to 6.50 since 2003? Well its now 7.50!! So basically a housekeeper has to work one hour to pay for a lousy bag of cat litter if she can even afford a cat let alone buy the "premium" catfood I buy which is expensive. I love when they try to say its imported just because its a foreign name when it clearly states on the package "Industria Argentina". Its a crazy world indeed.

In La Plata, taxi fair is roughly half.
I wonder how those cab drivers and family stay alive as there porteno counterparts definitly can´t
Maybe it´s greed?

I suspect the increase is due to higher prices with natural gas, which is what most taxis use for fuel.
Someone needs to start up a rickshaw (sp?) business in the city. Like they do in asian cities.... it's good exercise and doesn't pollute.
