Getting Fingerprints for FBI

in an orwellian sense? i dont think requring us to get fingerprints from the fbi is a sign of a dysotopia necessarily. the amount of dog shit on streets may be.

But doesn't number 8 on this link suggest that if I request it that the FBI will sufficiently apostile it without having to deal with the state dept?

http://www.fbi.gov/a...und-checks/faqs

No, it doesn't. The FBI seal is not an Apostille. A document either has the Apostille or it doesn't.

A few years ago, at least for a while, migraciones was accepting the FBI seal as sufficient certification, but since then other members have posted that an Apostille is now specifically required by migraciones.

Trying to make it easy on yourself by not dealing with the US state dept will only make it harder to deal with Argentine migraciones.

If you don't give them what they want the wont give you what you want.

but do u REALLY need fingerprints??? in the migraciob they say police record from your country (in my case Canada), nothing about fingerprints! I'm in the middle of having all my papers ready and suddenly realizing maybe i should've done it with fingerprints!!!! grrrrrr

The migraciones website doesn't say anything about fingerprints because you do not have to submit them yourself when applying for a visa.

Your fingerprints will be electronically scanned in Argentina when you get your penales antecedentes report.

You will only need fingerprints to get your foreign police report if (in your case) the Canadian authorities require them to perform the check and issue the results.

In US, the finger prints can only be obtained by certifiied parties, like some finger print companys
that cerfified by FBI/Police to do finger prints for employers and INS (immigration).

Yes, but I am not in the US. I am in ba. I had FBI prints done in the US for an employer last year, sadly they are of no use for argie work visa purposes.

it is off to the commissaria tomorrow.

in case anyone is need of stamps, from literally any country, maipu, a block up from corrientes has a galleria full of stamps from every country/year.

thanks steve for the info...

Anyone go to a police station lately? Any luck? Does form have to be stamped or just signed by whoever does it? If i go to BsAs fingerprint lab and they do it on their paper can I submit it?

Has to ne on a standard finger print form , as it says on the FBI website. And done and signed by an accepted facility. i.e. a local police department in the country the background check it is coming from. Have heard it may be done at an embassy. But you have to ask. Official finger print forms can be down loaded , but are not always accepted. Depends on the quality of the fingerprinting.

I went to the Minister of the Interior, Department of Immigration, and got an instruction sheet for obtaining a DNI. I'm retired and for me it was fairly clear, listing all the documents and fees required. Many of the instructions led me to sub-instructions.

IE: They sent me to the Consular Section of the American Embassy where I got instructions for "Obtaining A U.S. Good Conduct Certificate". One of its requirements was for me to be fingerprinted so I wandered around BsAs for awhile looking for an authorized fingerprinter. Finally I went to the police station across from the zoo. They did an old fashioned, ink, fingerprint which I sent to the FBI on April 24, 2013.

I was also fingerprinted, this time electronically, when I applied for the good conduct certificate of the local police.

I havent heard from the FBI yet.

I'm not surprised that many people are confused. It reminds me of a scavenger hunt. If I were a criminal I would have given up just bought a DNI.
