Good Stories? Great Experiences....

I went to buy four bananas at my usual corner shop, he didn't have change so he said 'pay me when you can'.
That happens very frequently, even in shops that don't know me.

When i was pregnant and now that i have a baby i find people much nicer. I flew to the states while pregnant and had about 15 people offer to put my luggage onto the conveyor belt when i was checking in. When i was flying back in JFK no one gave a damn about helping me. Also i have people help me lift my stroller all the time which is nice. The downside? All the viejas who want to peer into the stoller and touch my baby and give me unwanted advice. Aaaah! Buenos Aires! :)

i met (now) a good friend randomly in the park when he asked me for a cigarette. we got to talking and decided to go paddle boating on the lake together just then. turns out he and his partner lived 2 doors down from me!! true story.

Today I got some photocopies done and it came to $4.10 and I didn't have $0.10 so he charged me only $4.00

Last week I went to starbucks and ordered a venti coffee and didn't have anything other than $100 peso notes and the couldn't make change so they gave it to me for free.

That was the 3rd time it had happened to me.

Tried to photocopy a NY Subway map and was told very firmly that they didn't have machines big enough to do it. As I was walking out the door he asked me coldly "When do you need the copies by?" My thought was, do you have the large copier or not.

The guy said my cousin is in NY now, I can email him to bring some original maps back for you but he won't be here until next week.

:)

I will have to write a 1000 page book with the no of good stories I have to share about this city, country and its people.

No sad stories/bad experiences for me. Knock on the wood.

Oh come on! We get it; you like it here, hey I like it here too, but we all have bad things happen sometimes. Didn't you have an assistant steal from you in your apartment?

Its a bit strange for a good experience but it is mine: I had urgent surgery on my foot at Depuytren, paid $5000 cash for it (alas, no insurance) and when I went back to Paris and showed the X rays to a specialist foot surgeon there he said -´this is really excellent work and would have cost 10 times as much if it had been done here´.

I, too, met my current partner here in 2010 and we are happily living in BA (and I hope to get health insurance one of these days..)

The police stopped me, accused me of driving badly enough to cop a $3,200 fine.
It was my lucky day, they said all would be forgiven for just $500, but in the end were happy with $300.

Great experience

Lol. That's not a good day, that's just.... well, you know... lol.

Good things are walking into a store to buy a pricey household item. Being lucky enough that the store has a sale that day and on top of that the salesman is so happy you're paying cash that you get an extra 15% off. Remind me to never open a bank account here.
