Gun Control: Rights, Responsibilities, And Privileges

To counter those highly conclusion oriented fancy studies here's one irrefutable axiom/truth.

"Guns don't kill people, people kill people!" You can have it for free, distribute at will.

Actually, to be really fair about it ... "Guns aren't killing people, people with guns are killing people."

Yes, people have been killing each other since the beginning of time. Probably started with fists, then to stones, then to clubs and so on.

Consider for a moment that these weren't guns but they were little nuclear weapons. We are just moving from one end of the spectrum of the ability to kill people, past the current gun position, further out on the end of the spectrum to kill people. I think then we might be having a different conversation about control.

I offer that because I wonder how far out on the spectrum of death we have to go until we get uncomfortable enough to really start doing something that is going to change the current reality.

If you really want to be fair, treat the subject accordingly. The problem is (some) people killing each other, not getting better or more efficient at it.

Most/ large- huge- mayority of people have absolutely nothing to do with this, shall we at least agree on this?

Sorry about refuting your 'irrefutable truth', and to put this nonsense to bed once and for all, just start distributing this at will "Guns aren't killing people, people with guns are killing people."

For instance, two more today. 4 amateur firefighters shot at the scene of a fire in Webster New York, two dead. Killed by a man who had a gun.

I am somewhat shocked that everyone (not just here) is focusing so intently on gun control, and that they are not talking about mental health. In he US. we have not been merciful to people that have mental health problems, and this case is definitely an example of it. Try getting help for a relative that has as issue like this--and see how expensive and difficult it is. Since Reagan's presidency, as a nation, we have done little for those with mental health problems. We have kicked them to the curb. I don't have any official statistics, but I'm betting you that in the U.S., a large percentage of homeless people have mental health issues. People will always can use something to do some kind of violence (I'm actually for some kind of gun control--what that should look like, I have no idea), so gun control will go a long way from fixing the issue. If we don't start paying attention to the marginal people in our society and helping them, or making them get help, these things will continue to plague us. Also, this issue is far more complex than gun rights/gun control, and there are a myriad of changes that need to take place. We, and politicians, need to realize a knee-jerk reaction will not solve this problem. It will take time, and a concerted effort on everyone's part.

America doesn't want universal healthcare though....

They do want strong gun controls.

You mean the gun had an accomplice?
Unless I'm mistaken it should read "a gun that had a man".

Believe what you want as long as you do not want to force your irresponsible nonsense into my way of life. Just keep it to yourself and all will be fine. I promise I won't make it mandatory for you to own guns, many guns.

And shoot them. Often.

And enjoy it, with your family.
