Dear all, a good friend of mine is looking for this specific product:"harina PAN". She needs it ASAP because of her work. I will appreciate any tip or link provided.

Thank you

I assume that you checked out mercado libre, there seems to be stock as of one day ago.

I also assume that you are looking for a better price... Wow!

I'm sorry that I can't help you, I only entered the thread out of curiosity and did the search for the same reason.

Should be available where flour is in the supermarket. It's just flour for bread as far as I know, like there is flour for pizza, etc. I've seen" Harina para pan" before, I'm pretty sure.

But for Arepas - I thought that was a corn-based product.

As mi Amigos en Mexico says, no me gusta la Tortilla de Harina pero de Maiz Si! However, my taste votes for the Harina and no Maiz flavour for me.

The best brand to get authentic arepas is "Harina PAN", which is not bread, harina de maíz or polenta. It is not available at mercado libre today, fyi it was announced at 150 pesos per kilo at mercado libre.

It is similar to the ingredient used to get a "corn bread" meaning that it should be an specific kind of grain that went through a mill.

Thanks

It's white or yellow corn flower used for making arepas, bollo, etc. I've seen it all over Colombia, but I've never seen it here. Hell, if you want arepas here you have to go to the few restaurants that have them (like this place: http://www.guiaoleo.com.ar/restaurantes/Arepera-Buenos-Aires-9802), or get them delivered from someone. I just asked my husband if he could remember anything about the arepa delivery lady we ordered from a couple times a few years ago, but he can't.

Search "arepas Buenos Aires" on Facebook, and you will find some pages like this: https://www.facebook.com/arepas.comeme?fref=ts

Maybe one of those delivery services could help her out?

Thanks "dont mind me" for your options. My friend is a photographer and a cook, she is working on a photo - production of arepas, and she needs to go through all the steps of cooking.

On Friday I walked past a store with "hay harina para arepas" sign displayed on its window and I can't remember where it was. I'm mentally retracing my steps ... it's probably on Güemes (somewhere between Agüero and Guise).
A Dietética might also have it. Probably New Garden (http://www.newgarden.com.ar/QuienesSomos_SPA.aspx) or La Esquina de las Flores or Bodega Amparo (FB page for locations)
