My son will be in Buenos Aires from February 1, 2012 through the May 2012, volunteering through Road2Argentina. He is a high school senior. He is graduating a semester early, in January 2012, in order to be able to do this. We have just found out that he needs a second semester of a high school visual arts class to meet the qualifications of the California state schools to which he is applying, either drawing/painting or ceramics. Does anyone have a suggestion? He can stay longer to complete the semester if need be. Thank you!

He might check out Lincoln School http://www.lincoln.edu.ar/hs/index.html. It is US accredited.

I would also suggest checking with his California high school counselor for pre approval before starting any class, to verify they will be able to accept the credits. As a former high school guidance counselor in California, it was always sad to have to notify families when unapproved and unaccredited courses were not going to be accepted.

Also, he might also consider online courses from accredited programs such as BYU´s online high school program. http://is.byu.edu/is/site/

Once again, he should get pre approval from his high school first, and he should also verify when and how he can complete the course. BYU tends to have final exams that must be proctored by a BYU approved school staff (any school counselor can request to be approved).

His school counselor might have other ideas for approved programs, as well.

I'll second kats recommendation for the BYU IS courses. Probably the best way to do this.
