Hijacked..any Thoughts Or Ideas?

I can see that my grand return will be like a walk down memory lane

I think I'd be running down memory lane as fast as I could - toward the airport. Good luck on your nostalgic journey - why was it you wanted to relive that part of your life, again?

Thank you all for your concern! It reminds me of th first time I told my sister I was going to Iran. And here I am safe and sound after several trips there! But again, thanks TRULY for your concern! Esteban

I'm with you. I'd go to Ethiopia in a minute. And hopefully someday I really will go there.

You know( well you really don't know) I have always wanted to return and when this great deal came up, I took it before walking back down "nightmare"memory lane! yes, it is a new company and their hijacking are not frequent as they were at the time I was traveling but one would think they'd do something for me , even like I said extending my stay there(which doesn't come any $$ but their response was a firm NO!

I'm kinda skeptical about your story.

It doesn't make sense to me that after such a traumatic experience, you would want to go back? Africa is quite dangerous at this time and there's a good chance that you are putting yourself right back in harms way. Why would you do that? Did you enjoy your last visit that much?

What kind of deal is so great that you couldn't pass it up? I recently saw a $347 fare to Hawaii from Argentina. Thats Hawaii, as in no terrorists, no hijackers, no bullets flying by. Go there and enjoy the hula dancers.

The airline was a victim too. How do you calculate that they owe you anything?

And why are you so upset now that the airline isn't giving you anything? They never promised you anything. They're probably 100% occupied with flying people safely around Africa. Someone contacting them with a 21 year old grievance probably gets handled by the same person that handles Nigerian princes who need a temporary loan.

Last issue: why post this on the expat forum? What does this have to do with Expat Life?

You should contact the hijackers for compensation. They are the ones that caused your problem.

I am not even going to try to justify anything brought up in the previous posting! It's an open forum and all are entitled to their thoughts and opinion...as erroneous in my or other's estimation that they may be!

I didn't link Iran and Ethiopia - they are two very different destinations. Assuming you don't fall afoul of the ayatollahs and/or have ties to Israel or the US, you may have a decent time as a tourist in Iran. Ethiopia, on the other hand, is a festering hellhole.
