I'm planning on going in late August and on this web site, www.4rentargentina.com I found apartments in Recoleta for as cheap as $525 a month furnished. Should I trust this site? And I guess from all your advice I'll live comfortably with $10,000 for six months correct?

I think $1100 might make it if you have a room mate and not a nice, large place in a nice neighborhood. Since I've been here, with my partner, we like a lot of space (not a lot for US standards but our places are over 1000 sq ft) and we've never paid less than $1400 a month for rent alone. I had a friend from Mexico who rented a room with a small bed in a noisy house for $200 a month though, so it's possible...
