How are retirees coping nowadays?

The costs for maintaining houses, will raise too.
I think most expats live in flats but they too are becoming more expensive to maintain. Nevertheless, owning property will make it much more affordable and much more stable.

Before Expats can't afford the cost of living here, the social unrest of the millions under 60 % poverty level will have exploded. And then you add the ending
This is a risk. And no matter how comfortable one is, being surrounded by a lot of desperate people will not be pleasant.

It will raise. But with a house you have control on when and what maintenance you want to do. So you can budget doing maintenance and projects when the brecha is advantageous.
This is true. Houses however are more expensive if you buy in a good area. Most expats seem to be single or couples w/o children and less likely to want a house. If you buy a flat you need to check 'expensas' carefully. If there are few flats in the building you could getb stuck with a lot of special assessments and a high monthly maintenance fee. If there are enough flats to share costs and the building is well run you will be safer.
