How do expats feel about the Luigi Mangioni situation?

Morals aside, it highlights the gaping hole that is the flawed US healthcare system. It's completely broken. I took my daughter to the ER when she was a baby because of breathing problems. I could hear the nurse talking to the patient next door. His vitals were fine and they asked if he was homeless and came to the ER to look for a bed to sleep in. He replied yes. They explained that he couldn't sleep there and had to leave. His service was free. The doctor came to see me and said my daughters vitals were fine. I was paying for health insurance. My co-pay was $1,000 for the same service. Riddle me that one.
You are paying for the ones that don't have health insurance by way of higher premiums and also by way of Medicaid. If the USA (applies to Argentina as well) got their collective shit together and went to a not for profit/public hybrid healthcare system, similar to those in Germany and France, instead of the license to steal currently in place, you would see a drastic reduction in what you shell out every year. Profit has no place in healthcare. Having said that, I do believe healthcare professionals should be well remunerated, given the demands of their profession.

Some of these comments are horrifying. This lunatic was a cold blooded killer - he killed a man with a wife and kids. He’s nothing more than a criminal, and any statement about this with a “but” to somehow justify it obliquely or directly is a slippery slope indeed.

Some of them are definitely over paid. Id rather there were less demands put on them and they were paid appropriately than they be over worked. Id say that would be better for everyone.

The leftist do-gooders think that everyone has some good points and are worth saving. Your post nailed the issue to a "t". I believe even in NYC the killer will be found guilty despite him hiring a high priced esq as the acquittal of the subway hero proved; people everywhere are fed up with crime and too lenient sentences.

Wasn't the subway 'hero' defending people who had been threatened? His intent was not to kill.

Yes, he was doing just that; defending people threatened by a lunatic drugged out thug. However, Alvin Bragg, the DA in NYC, charged him anyway. Luckily, a sensible jury in that city acquitted him. Bragg is the same person who stretched the law (actually subverted the law) to charge Trump with fraud. That case will unquestionably be reversed on appeal.

If this is your equivalency argument, you are way down the slippery slope.
You obviously don't know the law.

We are way off topic on this site. I'll not respond to further posts on this thread. Thanks for your input, though.
