How Does Punta Del Este Compare with St Tropez, Monaco, Marbella, etc these days?

I am thinking of spending the European winters in Punta de Este and was curious how it is these days. I used to visit in late 1990s and liked it and now looking for a luxury European exclusive vibe, glamour, classy restaurants, nightlife, music, beach yoga, etc. I will be in St Tropez and Marbella this year but dont like the cold winters here hence thinking of moving down there at the end of the year....

Any comments welcome

Thanks

This may not be the right forum to find an answer to this question. I would recommend asking your friends who summer on the med, where they go in winter. Your problem is not unique, but you should know your audience...

Yeah but I prefer to go to Punta if its still a cool place to go......most of my friends here in Europe head to Dubai in winter but I find it a bit boring to be honest

I have spent time in Saint Tropez in July and August and it's truly a great place with a special vibe and is actually not horrifically expensive for the quality. Punta del Este is nothing like this and has always been a poor value for what you get as the high season is really only several weeks and every business is trying to squeeze everything they can out of it. You are better off going to the south Florida in winter if you are serious.

I understand you perfectly. Nowadays, with those infernal low-budget airlines, one finds the hoi polloi in the most remote places. I hear that in Dubai, there are hordes of Germans wearing Birkenstocks and black socks. The horror!

Good luck on your quest. Please share any information if you happen to find that elusive Eden for those who have it all.

Yeah Miami could be an option I guess but to be honest I dont like American concrete jungle cities .......lacking the soul of European style places
