How many of us are still here?

Argentine wife and 2 kids so won't be leaving any time soon.

I would suppose if I had happened to be here as a single man I wouldn't be hanging around much longer.

My impression is that those expats who stay are usually married to Argentines who don't want to leave. I can't see how current prices can justify all the inconveniences of living in such an unstable country when there are European destinations that cost less and have much more to offer.
This is true - at least in part - for me and my family (Argentine husband and two sons who were born here). However, now more than ever, I would never return to the USA to reside, for my children more than anything. I am absolutely disgusted and horrified that RFK Jr. is the secretary of the HHS.

Both of my sons are on the autism spectrum, and apart from this dangerously incompetent individual claiming (among other pelotudeces) that autism is preventable and that people with autism will "...never pay taxes. They'll never hold a job. They'll never play baseball. They'll never write a poem. They'll never go out on a date..." and the gutting of IDEA and the department of education, I would no sooner send my kids to a school in the States than I would be a teacher there again (read: HELLLLLLLLL no).

I'm not saying that Argentina is a Shangri-La, but at least I can keep my family afloat as a teacher and my children here are able to avail of vital services, therapies, and other resources that are simply no more back in the US of A. There is absolutely nothing left for me there anymore.

It didn't have to be this way 😓

Well, we do want leave however Uscis has a huuuuge backlog, 13 months still waiting and I think we have about a year more to go. We still are keeping property etc here and can get by, but neithe country makes anything easy, or smooth or predictable atm.

Do you think the current Argentine political situation is better?

If they are equally difficult, better to stay put in Argentina, no?

Interesting...I thought they had caught up from the pandemic. What's the backlog for? Visa, Greencard, Citizenship?

I agree with you 100%, am from Argentina, living in the US for 37 years and am planning on leaving and going back asap. I am a teacher and will stop teaching in June. Worse news, worse prices every day here, such as this (file):

Just for the sake of it. If it doesn't work we'll be back but DH has family there, I don't have any family left in Arg anymore.

When it comes down to it, I reiterate that Argentina is not Shangri-La but there is no doubt how much my family would suffer in the United States (just for this issue alone).
I won't go back.
I can't go back.
