Be careful asking for too much salary. It depends on where you are in the food chain, so to speak, but the farther down you are, the less you can ask for. A close friend's daughter has been working for a big company for 3 months, asked for a raise, and was told a very firm no, and they said they considered letting her go just for asking, as there were 100 people with no work that would love to have her job for less than she was paid... ouch!
