I Have An Iphone Question ...

The speaker on my iPhone SE went dead last week.
Now only bivrates.I took it to Claro.they told the speaker was dead. Anybody know a reputable guy that repaires iPhones in BA???

Yes, I'll send you via DM if you like.

I have an iPhone question too: how come that buying a used iPhone is such a dare in Buenos Aires? I read stories about people who bought a second hand iPhone and after two days it is blocked and unusable. How so? Why does it take two days to get blocked?
I understand there are several layers of security:
- at the device level with the PIN code
- at the iCloud level with the iCloud account
- at the phone carrier level with the IMEI code

People say they check the IMEI on the ENACOM website but it is not enough. Someone say that there is only a payment service which for 65 USD will check EVERYTHING about a phone. Am I getting the story right?

I know of no more levels than the ones you describe. There is no blacklist of Apple devices outside of the Find My iPhone service in iCloud.

I would recommend to treat these stories as meaningless unless accompanied by further information. To wit: What does "blocked" mean? Does the phone turn on, but doesn't get phone service? Does switching carriers change things? (Then it could conceivably be a carrier blacklist, which I've also never heard of but at least makes sense in theory). Does it not boot at all?

Normally, if you have the device PIN and the phone is logged out of iCloud, that's all there is to it. Unless there is a detailed and verifiable report otherwise, one can safely assume that any report to the contrary is being fed by ignorance and/or bad intentions.

P.S. I have some new and used iPhones if anyone needs.
