I had a registered letter disappear after the mailman had rung my bell. Was in the shower and had to put on some clothes. When I came down he was gone. Letter lost. Probably shucked it in the nearest trash.

I have shipped boxes of clothes to Bangkok, Luang Prabong, Rome, Paris, Lisbon, hell even Tangier on my Fed Ex account and never paid dues, customs or fees. It's always been 40-70.00 but well worth is not having to lug clothes and check luggage on long trips. Fed Ex has never quoted me a customs tax when using my account and sending to my own attention at a hotel or destination.

Why would this be different in BA?

I have had mail sent from my Canadian home all over the world by UPS. Works well, although very expensive - around $100 - to S.A.

Yes and Yes... Just looking to be as prepared as possible...
My questions have been answered, I will figure out a way around it just like most of the Expats who go to Uruguay to stay in...
