Industria Argentina , Is There Anything That Doesnt Break?

Actually, Argentina had to impose trade barriers against Brazilian made products (in open violation to the Mercosul treaty) because Argentinian companies could compete in quality .......s were either taxed or outright banned because the Argentinian industry was unable to compete on both quality and price. The quality difference between a product MADE IN BRAZIl vs.MADE IN ARGENTINA is very noticeable and evident.

Brazil has world class companies such as Vale and Embracer. These are world class companies, competing with the best in the West.

Mediocracy is a national goal?

the quality of the product is certainly less important than the fact that you have argentines producing it. You protect that jobs and then stimulate the demand to those products. Then, if the bussiness goes well, you can think of exporting and the more it grows the more competitive the products will be. But we re clearly not in that fase.

This is what we learn at UBA and most public universities in Latin America folks: The most bizarre and backwards economic concepts one can think of.

Now, do they teach Bastiat at UBA? I very much doubt it.

I dont think that first world countries are THAT open to world trade. Unlike Argentina, and Latam in general, their developed sector is the industry, not the agro, so the sector they protect and put barriers to is the Agro. And the agro is the developed sector of countries like Arg, their competitive sector. So industrialized countries protect their agro and Arg protect its industry. And Argentina have problems to enter products as well these big corpporations have problems to enter Argentina.
We have as an example, Argentina cannot enter lemmons in the US.

Of course, Australia and New Zealand are mostly agro and commodity exporters, and unlike Argentina, do not close their markets for industrial goods. Who do you think is better off economically?

Ah, but they didn't provide refuge to Hitler (and several thousand tons of sodium fluoride) thus earning the wrath and eternal economic persecution of the USA. This prevented Argentina from attaining its rightful position as the greatest economy in the world ever.

Indeed, and as Matias implied on a past post, because the Brazilians were nice and subservient to the white men from the north, the country was allowed to prosper.

Which begs the question with subservience to the USA being such an incredibly successful economic policy worldwide why doesn't Argentina kneel down and try a little yanqui chorizo.

Because they are the "master race" of Latin America, they don't bow their heads like the blacks and browns around them do, and are they poised for much greater things. You just wait. It will happen at any second now.
