Amazing story Alexis Mac Allister member of the Argentina National Team. Now plays in the UK , Man . United ?

The incredible story of Donabate, the Irish town who supported Argentina thanks to Alexis Mac Allister
Noel McAllister lives in a town in County Dublin and claims to have the same root as Alexis: how is the link and why their surnames are spelled differently.

Further comments, 90 % of the players come from Argentine Provinces, small towns / Interior. ... None from CABA or AMBA? Why?

Señor Mac Allister plays for Brighton & Hove Albion. When he last played in Argentina he played for Boca Juniors.

Multitudes shown now on TN greets Mac Allister in Santa Rosa , La Pampa.. A personal observation most players of this Seleccion come from a middle class background..?

Most come from lower than middle class ( DiMaria, Martinez, Alvarez, Messi )

Travelling in northern Argentina in October and November of 1995, I well remember that Maradona had just returned to play his final stint at Boca, with his hair dyed blue and gold. We became a bit interested in football and would watch the games on television and have a bit of a chuckle at the comentators' pronunciation of the name of a red-headed player on the same team: MACAlister. We assumed he was some kind of import or player on loan from the UK, and Google didn't exist in those days to find the information at the push of a button. In fact, it was Carlos MacAllister, Alexis' father, later a secretary for sport in Macri's administration.

Well just from a bird eye view evaluation Messi et. al. seem to come from a higher level than Villa Fiorito for Tevez and Maradona. They all had a warm plate of food..! every day.

Most likely yet they are not middle class. Maradona's family was closer to indingent.

Just to agree ? , there is lower and upper middle class....!

On another board I read that the lack of porteños on the team accounts for the lack of egos.

There are many hundreds of thousands of Irish descendant Argentines and Irish surnames are actually more common and more familiar here than you might expect in a Spanish speaking country. There are many Irish origin surnames among the traditional landed gentry families and it's been that way for the last 150 years or so.
