Exactly but it’s so desperate. If they can launch a ship that is still under construction, the possibilities are limitless. The absurdist in me is rather amused.
A few days ago the President and his entourage went to Tucuman to "inaugurate" a factory that won't even open for at least a year and celebrate the US$500.000 investment (that is still in the fundraising stage) and creation of 100 direct and indirect jobs as a sign of times to come.
The pagina12 article reads like a government press release. Strip away all the grandiose quotes and this what it comes down to - the navy partially built a relatively small ship over 6 years.
The government can only contemplate charades like this because it exists in a state of virtual reality that is deeply rooted in bad faith. As long as this condition persists, the people of Argentina — ie, who are the host to these parasitic politicians — will experience new lows. Any change for the better requires acting in good faith and fully embracing reality. I truly hope for it, for the sake of the people of Argentina. They deserve the opportunity to chart their own course.
No, Dougie, it's a little more than that, Macri stopped construction entirely, and the F&F gov't has re-started it. To me that's the important part. And saying "relatively small" is flattery; it's more like tiny

“While I was director of Military Intelligence and Counterintelligence in Venezuela, I received a large number of reports indicating that this international financing was occurring. Specific examples are: Néstor Kirchner in Argentina, Evo Morales in Bolivia, Lula Da Silva in Brazil, Fernando Lugo in Paraguay, Ollanta Humala in Peru, Zelaya in Honduras, Gustavo Petro in Colombia, Five Star Movement in Italy and Podemos in Spain. All of these were reported as recipients of money sent by the Venezuelan government, ”Carvajal revealed, in a letter that was published by OK Diario de España, where he is detained pending extradition to the United States.
While hardly a secret, this demonstrates that foreign interference or "sabotage" attempts in the modern age is not limited to the US or western or "neoliberal" powers. Given the links to drug and blood-gold smuggling, I would go further to say that interference and "sabotage" in modern times comes mostly from criminal elements that control some states rather than outdated and false "ideologies" like "capitalism" vs. "socialism" - despite they fact they are often wrapped up as such.

They like to inaugurate every new piece of pavement lol
Why did Macri stop it? And why is this good that they are building this ship? Not disagreeing just want to understand your perspective.
Perhaps it could be argued that buying the ship from elsewhere, and focusing the money, efforts, etc on another project are a better use of resources. I have no idea.
