Is Argentina Still a Good Deal?

Fortunately, I do not have to face taxation on my foreign income in either country and I do not have to pay rent. So, even though my COL has more than doubled since January and is now 50% of my income, I still have 50% to spend however I desire.

I consider the qualiy of my life to be the best ever in all of my seventy-four years. My day to day life (and love for it) has been the same for the past fourteen years, enjoying every minute of my life in the campo and being the jardinero, taking care of the two and a half acres that I bought in 2010.
Sounds like you are living a great life. I got 3 kids in private school, a rental in Caballito, an Argentine fiance, and feel like the life force is being drained out of me over the past year, haha😅.

My brother, 3 kids and a wife will drain the life force out of even the richest men...😅

Can a single person still live a decent life for let's say 1500 USD per month rent included?
Today...perhaps. Tomorrow, perhaps not. The dollar market is being massaged in a frozen state and aumentos in pesos is happening in virtually every sector at a 10% clip per month, contrary to what the INDEC publishes. Having a fixed income in USD is not ideal right now and it's purchasing power is eroding steadily. A further devaluation (recommended by many external economists) to bring parity to the exchange market will erode it further.

I see. Hope the situation comes back to 'normal' soon.

There is no normal here.

But I think you can live reasonably well on US$1500/month. It's hard to really know without knowing your lifestyle. While it's much more expensive than it was in December, it's still a lot cheaper than in my home state. I think if you come here with a plan to live well on 1500/month, you'll be able to do it. You'll have to learn to live like an Argentino, but there's nothing wrong with that.

Have you ever visited Argentina? If some of the "neighborhoods" in Capital Federal are mentioned by name (Recoleta, Palermo Soho, or San Telmo, just to name a few, would you be able to visualize them from memory? As Rich implied, different barrios are more or less expensive than others...and the cheaper they get, the less desireable they are likely to be to live in...especially for a foreigner.

i will always own my place in BA. i love argentine for alot of quality of life reasons. if its the same price as the usa so be it
Well said! Hopefully the many people who came here "because it is cheap" have already moved to other better (from their point of view) places.
I too live in BA for many reasons, and affordability was one. Now that it is almost no longer the case I still like to be here for the remaining good things.
