A friend of a friend of mine, just drove his car three hours, one way, to buy tires in Uruguay. Another example that this is a temporary aberration. Nothing is cheaper in Uruguay - not for long anyway....
Yes, they are worse, espically for Argentinians. A grim time for many but an opportunity for people with money. Rents are insanely high in Mendoza but one could buy a house or apartment for 60% of what they were going for a few years ago. I don't know if the situation is similar in BA?Spring is here, and things are much worse than in March when you wrote this.
They like Argentina's leader more??Although costs here are challenging at the moment, things are now worse for many in the United States. And although Argentina is not yet listed as a top destination, nature abhors a vacuum and people will eventually discover what we discovered long ago namely; the wonderful country of Argentina. Especially with people like Doug Casey (International Man) unable to keep a secret. Hopefully the initial reaction is merely emotional drivel and the costs will keep them away.
SHOCK POLL: Majority of Kamala Voters Want to Relocate, Nearly Half Plan to Leave The Country Altogether | The Gateway Pundit | by Ben Kew
A shocking poll has found that a majority of Kamala Harris supporters want to relocate, while nearly half want to leave the U.S. altogether.www.thegatewaypundit.com
Thailand has started taxing expats. Many are leaving as a result. People unhappy with the US elections aren't likely to be fans of Argentina's fearless leader.India is cheaper to live than Argentina and also more stable (barring the usual protests). You also don't have to deal with the currency control issues. I'm not sure that foreigners can get residency easily but worth looking into. Otherwise check out Thailand
That said, give it another year and I think Milei will win the next elections and bring some economic stability back.
Today bought Ibuprofen 60 capsules and they were 31.000. This is $30 or £23. That’s disgustingly outrageous! What is that? There’s no way you can explain this with the inflation or economic conditions. Someone’s taking serious advantage of the situation. It’s not the same place anymore. You gotta watch out your expenses.Does anybody notice quite a regional disparity? I was stunned at how cheap Posadas was compared to Buenos Aires.
Anecdotally, I earn in GBP and the exchange rate and inflation has meant a huge rise in costs for me in the last year. Many things are European prices if not higher. I’ve started to significantly rein in my spending here whereas I never did before. I expect tourism from US/Europe must have dropped and others must be reining in their expenditure
if if’s purely a toss up for where is super cheap then why not South Africa?India is cheaper to live than Argentina and also more stable (barring the usual protests). You also don't have to deal with the currency control issues. I'm not sure that foreigners can get residency easily but worth looking into. Otherwise check out Thailand
