It's Too Expensive Here!

I get it, Argie Electrons spin faster generating more energy B)
You got it. That is why microwave ovens cost twice as much in Argentina than anywhere else in the world: spin those pesky electrons faster.

I lived on Clay St., between Polk and Larkin in San Fran. for MANY years. When I moved in mid June of 2003, the rent was increased from US$353.09 to US$1,400.00. Yes, the landllord painted the 60 sq ft apartment.

Argentina should brace itself for a massive influx of desperate migrants from the USA:

All this time, the United States has been truly losing its authority in the rest of the world. It is indeed no longer hegemonic. The protestors and their candidates have been noting this but consider it reversible, which it is not. The United States is now considered a weak and unsure global partner.[/background]
[background=rgb(251, 249, 244)]This is not merely the view of states that have strongly opposed U.S. policies in the past, such as Russia, China, and Iran. It has now become true of presumably close allies, such as Israel, Saudi Arabia, Great Britain, and Canada. On a worldwide scale, the feeling about the “reliability” of the U.S. in the geopolitical arena has moved from nearly 100% during the golden era to somewhere far, far lower. And it increases daily.[/background]

[background=rgb(251, 249, 244)]As it becomes less “safe” to live in the United States, look for a steady increase in emigration. It is not that other parts of the world are safe – just safer. It is not that the standard of living elsewhere is so high, but it has now become higher in many parts of the global North.[/background]

[background=rgb(251, 249, 244)]Not everyone can emigrate of course. There is a question of cost and a question of accessibility to other countries. Undoubtedly, the first group that may increase their emigration will be the most privileged sectors. But, as this comes to be noticed, the angers of the more middle-class “disillusioned” will grow. And growing, their reactions may take a more violent turn. And this more violent turn will feed back onto itself, increasing the angers.

Now, the question is, in America, now that you’re having as a result of this polarization shorter lifespans, worse health, worse diets, where are the Americans going to emigrate? Nobody can figure that one out yet. There’s no, seems nowhere for them to go, because they don’t speak a foreign language. The Russians, the Greeks, most Europeans all somehow have to learn English in school. They’re able to get by in other countries. They’re not sure where on earth can the Americans go to? Nobody can really figure this out.

Naomi Klein's parents emmigrated in 1967 for political reasons and just look where she is today.Wow!

yuk yuk.

last year, just like every year, the number of US citizens who emmigrate was so low as to be barely countable.
And many of those were cases of foreign born people, who moved to the US, and, upon retirement, retired back to their native countries.

meanwhile, the numbers of foreigners who emmigrate TO the US is constant. Illegals from Mexico and Central America are down lately, due to the lack of entry level jobs- but they are being balanced by all the wealthy chinese, russians, eastern europeans, saudis, and other rich people buying homes in the USA. Properly structured real estate purchases in the USA come with a green card. In the Seattle area, but also in the Bay Area, NYC, and other big cities, these deals are growing in number all the time.

Everybody wants to, at the very least, park their money in the USA- lots and lots of Argentines, for example, own apartments in Miami.

The idea that things are so bad in the US that you will see massive outgoing movement is silly.
The people who have it the worst, and might move, cannot come up with $1000 if they had to.
And the wealthy people who could afford to emmigrate are doing just fine.

Plus, Argentina is expensive. When people flee the USA, they will be looking for cheap places.
And, many of my gun nut friends in the USA are always dissapointed to find out that except for war zones like Iraq or Yemen or Somalia, pretty much everywhere in the world has much stricter gun laws than the USA.

I posted this tongue-in-cheek -- not because conditions are good in the USA but because no-one wants the US down and out. At the same time it's true that there's been a slow but steady efflux of high net worth individuals from the USA -- because of its global taxation policy.

And the realities of life for the down and out in the US:

https://morecrows.wordpress.com/2016/05/10/unnecessariat/

These realities are arguably what have given a fillip to the campaign of Donald Trump. And they're not going away. As Jeb Bush said back in 2011, the US is in decline.

Probably those with lots and lots of dodgy money.

Albert Einstein would have died broken by self worthlessness, if he tried to compete with the legendary distinguished economists on this board who tirelessly never run out of endless explanations on how to fix Argentina. (Some would even resort to magic).

They know exactly precisely all the details inside out why the peso is up, nonetheless NONE of replies ever mentioned the slight possibility of the other side of the equation: ... the DOLLAR has been down for a while !!!!

And if they start to explain to you why or when the Dollar is down or up ..... they`ve got a magnificent historic suspension bridge to sell you.
They will be very rich.
Trust me about it.

Argentina broke or not ..... WHO CARES !!!!!

Argentina broke or not ..... WHO CARES !!!!!

meant to say:

Argentina is basically a half decent retirement ..... aside from that ..... WHO CARES !!!!!
