I'm looking forward to someone ripping off a face scan database and using it to generate deepfakes to drain people's bank accounts with one of those damn bank apps that insist on facial recognition for security.

It seems that sim swapping is becoming a big thing here, where people get your phone number, have their buddy at Claro deactivate your sim card, then take a fresh sim card with your number on it to reset all your passwords. So much for the banks and crypto exchanges that force 2 factor authentication by SMS down your throat.

That's a real thing everywhere. Also usa. It takes a lot of planning, and it's a slim chance, but if it goes through, you are left with nothing.
