Land of the freebies, home of the enslaved..

I was distracted by 'The world's greatest news anchor'.

What relevance does this paranoid nonsense have to being an expat in BA?

About as much relevance as the post "whats wrong with these people", or many other posts on this site. If you arent interested in it dont post on it, that simple.

The irony is that government GREW under Reagan!
Sadly policies adopted by both Republicans and Democrats have contributed to the situation that has led to so much dependence on government. Outsourcing jobs, dependence on cheap Asian imports and the destruction of US industry, irresponsible lending unregulated by government, etc. Now there is a crisis and no matter how hard Obama tries he can not conceal the reality of high unemployment (worse than the official figures). foreclosures etc. How on earth can someone with a minimum wage job or no job get by w/o some help ?

I smell unemployed used car salesman. Nice logo.

Politics aside, that's a pretty mediocre video, even among its "genre"... the fact that it has 500,000 hits is the most depressing thing I've seen in a while.

It is neither paranoid nor is it nonsense. It is very real unfortunately, a hard cold fact of life. and....as another poster said, do NOT post in this thread if all you're going to do is bash it. Don't you have anything better to do?

You are correct Chris, that's because there is no difference between a democrat and a republican at the higher levels.

We have a one party system in the US, which is divided into two parts. Both parties work for the same team. The goal is not to help the American people. The goal is to advance the agenda of super wealthy individuals, groups and special interests.

But above all, the goal is to preserve, protect and continue the continuity of government as an institution. This is why no real change ever takes place from presidency to presidency, unless of course, things get worse for the public but better for those in power. This is why Bush implemented the Patriot Act and Obama renewed it, even though he had campaigned against it. This is why Obama signs bills such as the NDAA, not for him to use but for the next president to use. Obama tags out and another stooge tags in, and the cycle continues. This is how the game of political theater is played and we are the suckers.

Meanwhile they create more wars, more fear and more excuses for why we need a larger institution of government and military build up - war on poverty, war on drugs, war on terrorism, foreign wars, environmental scares, higher unemployment, fear of the economy, fear of pandemic diseases, food safety scares...etc. the list goes on and on and only government can save us.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

We only have the illusion of democracy and change because in reality it is nothing more than false choice. We are given the "choice" between candidate A and candidate B, not realizing that both candidates are completely 100% bought and paid for by special interests.

Sadly, the system is broken and has been broken for decades now. we no longer have the rule of law, we have the rule of men i.e. gangsters, thugs and crony capitalists. this explains to date, why not one person has been held responsible for the 2008 crash, not one person held responsible for MF Global, why 10 years had to pass by before Bernie Madoff was finally brought to justice - and not by the SEC but rather by a financial crisis.

The government loves it when you accept a handout or governmental assistance as they've just bought your allegiance and vote. You're less likely to bite the hand that feeds you. What do you think Evita did down here in Argentina. The government needs to stop giving people fish. The government should start teaching people HOW to fish!

And if we want to know who's really to blame all we need to do is look in the mirror. The amount of tyranny and corruption that will exist is exactly the amount that we will put up with.

Sorry to go off on a rant.

Caliexpat: Well if it was a rant it certainly hit the Bull's Eye. Good job!
