Landed in BA 3 days ago. I'm lost

It's been an "organised industrialised crime" in London for almost a decade now and hasnt caught on here. Sadiq Khan the mayor and controller of the London police force has made it impossible for members of his religion to be prosecuted for rape let alone phone theft. The same circumstance doesn't exist here thank god
I have been thinking about this recently and I am very happy that "the same situation as London (specifically) doesn't exist here" but I don't thank god. I thank the Argentine government for not creating legislation that would make Argentina "diverse" or "multicultural" and I thank the political will that gives migraciones the piwer to help preserve the Argentine (specifically) culture by protecting the country's borders as well as they do.

Oooh! Dogwhistle, dogwhistle, dogwhistle!

Only 7% of the population of London are Pakistani/Bangladeshi and just 15% of all and any ethnicities count themselves as Moslem (Census 2021) so if any of that were true, how did the Mayor of London get re-elected in 2024 with 44% of the vote on a turnout of 40.5% (House of Commons Library)? The majority of Londoners of all ethnic backgrounds and all religions and none, trust the mayor to do a good job for them and would have voted him out if they didn't.

"7% of the population of London are Pakistani / Bangladeshi" 🤣 Come on bro that wasnt remotely true when they said it. And even if it was, the year you yourself quoted is 2021, as if millions havnt entered since then.

And to show im not biased, yes I realise the Tories were in power and let it happen, which is why they should be banished to the dustbin of history forever

They are using Faraday bags to stop kill signals and the gangs, right around the corner from the actual theft, empty phone banking apps and crypo wallets in seconds. No, I don't know how they do it either but there's plenty of reliable reporting that they do.
Worrying. For years I only accessed home (country) banking from the website from my home computer, which has good security and requires two sets of unguessable passwords/numbers to log on. Now, suddenly, the bank won't let me enter that way without first installing its app on the phone so it can send a message there to confirm it's me trying to enter on the computer via the website. Due to this enforced change to a system that seems perfectly secure, the only thing now between someone who has my phone in their hand and my money is the App's 4 digit code (and with an icon now helpfully telling a thief that I have an account with that particular bank to hack into). I struggle to see how my accounts are more secure now than they were before, especially in light of the above information.

With the loss of true stewardship at the mainstream social networking services, like twitterX facebook and others, it does seem that overtly racist language is acceptable in those internet communities. In the past it was kept to IRL locations where people knew they were be among others of their same ideals. Still I wonder why these thoughts needs to bleed over to this forum which is based on Argentina discussion. Not someone's bigotry as it applies to their life in another country.

Agreed. I feel like the bigger issue is the bigotry and racism that seems to come with the older "expats" who seem to find themselves in BA. Very concerning.

.
Don't forget to thank the lack of a land bridge between North Africa and Argentina. Such migration isn't new. All sorts of Spanish words have Arabic etymology thanks to the Moors.

My first thought is that may be that census is not really accurate
That's a good point. I wonder the same thing about the census in Argentina. As I understand it, Argentina's Census Day is a public holiday when several hundred thousand enumerators all over the country try to find and record everyone else. I'd love to know how accurate that is.

In the UK preparations start weeks and months before the Census date and continue long after. Forms are delivered to places where people are known to live (including people living informally in tents, sheds and caravans etc - a special team will also record rough sleepers) and the questions relate to midnight on a specific date. Some weeks later, a randomised sample of about 1.5% of the population are surveyed about the census - this acts as a sort of checksum against the original data. Taking into consideration overcoverage (double counting) and undercoverage and refusals the UK Census is reckoned to produce 97% of expected results.

If you are interested in statistics or just like numbers there's a pretty good explanation here:

I love Megyn Kelly, but I don't often watch her videos until the end. This relevant video was posted yesterday and I wached it through to the end....twice.
