Just to let people know, some stickers on ram or the info in your laptop manual will say either PCX-XXXX or DDRX-XXX mhz:
pc3-8500 = ddr3 1066 mhz sodimm (laptops that are around 1 to 2 years old or some newer netbooks/cheap laptops)
pc2-6400 = ddr2 800 mhz (laptops that are 2 to 3 years old)
pc2-5300 = ddr2 667 mhz (laptops 3 to 4 years old)
You can download PC-WIZARD that will tell you exactly what you have in your laptop:

Go to MAINBOARD, Click on PHYSICAL MEMORY..
